The General Automotive Technology Program at San Diego Miramar College has all the rigor and technical quality of the Honda PACT/Toyota T-TEN program, yet with the opportunity of working with various other industry partners. Classes provide theory and extensive hands-on entry-level training, as well as professional development opportunities for current industry employees.
Through collaboration and outreach with local industry leaders, students have the opportunity to develop a career path with independent garage owners, large specialty suppliers, and local distributors, dealerships and franchises in the greater San Diego region.
Degrees and Certificates
The Automotive Technology Program at San Diego Miramar College offers curriculum with two tracts, one which leads to Certificates of Achievement, and one with results in an Associate in Science Degree.
Upon completion of coursework, program graduates will be able to:
- Accurately diagnose and repair light duty automotive systems and components
- Identify workplace health and safety compliance using regulations published by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and the Environmental Protection Agency
- Research automotive repair data, instructions, and specifications using printed material as well as computer database systems
