Miramar College Business Department Enters Into Internship Relationships With Three Local Employers

Thanks to the high quality business programs being offered throughout the year, the San Diego Miramar College Business Department has developed a relationship with local employers to assist in securing interns for the upcoming academic year.

“Our track record clearly indicates that San Diego Miramar College students are prepared to become contributing interns at local businesses,” said David Wilhelm, associate professor of Business at San Diego Miramar College. “Our business faculty has worked hard to cultivate relationships with local companies to connect these businesses with the unique skill sets our students currently possess.”

This fall, the business department will supply qualified interns for Aviva Systems Biology, a leading antibody company; Puplava Financial Services, Inc. (PFS), a wealth advisory services company; and the Greater San Diego Association of REALTORS®.

Assistant Professor of Business David Wilhelm works closely with Work Experience Coordinator Laurie Vasallo-Dusa to place San Diego Miramar College students.

“Our faculty has demonstrated their commitment to place our students in rewarding internships that will allow for them to grow and reach their career goals,” said Wilhelm. The College also features a highly recognizable Business Club. Many of the students who study in the business program transfer to 4-year institutions to complete a bachelor’s degree.

Partnerships with local industry and the City and County of San Diego have long prepared San Diego Miramar College students for high demand and well-paying careers in the highly competitive labor market, including biotechnology, paralegal (ABA approved), aviation (FAA-certified), automotive, diesel and advanced transportation and energies. Miramar College is home to the Southern California Biotechnology Center, Advanced Transportation and Energy Center and the San Diego Regional Public Safety Institute, which comprises the San Diego Law Enforcement Academy and the Fire Technology & EMT program. Since 1969, the college has provided training for nearly all law enforcement and firefighters in San Diego County.
