Important Appointment Information

Student Health Services at San Diego Miramar College serves students who are registered and currently attending at least one class on campus and have paid the student health fee. Open since Fall 1998, the Health Services Office is located in Building K2 in room K2-102. The Health Services Office is open during each semester (Fall, Spring and Summer). Hours vary so call the office for current operating hours.

Student Health Services offers limited primary care health services,  this is not a health insurance plan nor is it a substituite for health insurance. This is a list of some of the services offered.

 

FREE Services

  • Care and Examination by Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner or Medical Doctor (College Physician) for acute, chronic or episodic complaints.  
  • Mental health counseling. For a fuller list of services see the Mental Health Page.
  • Over the counter single dose medications are free (note: Prescriptions offered/filled on site cost $ and we try to keep the cost low)
  • Blood pressure monitoring
  • Snellen Vision Screening and outside referrals to community partners
  • Condoms for individual use
  • Health Education on a variety of topics for prevention of illness/disease.
  • Information about Student Accident Insurance Program
  • Referral to Community Health Agencies, as necessary
  • Crutches-free on a loan basis

  • Vaccinations
  • TB testing
  • Flu shots may have a fee
  • Physical Exams 
  • Minor office surgical proceedures
  • Wart removal
  • STD/ STI testing
  • Lab work

 

 

Educational Activities

The staff of Student Health Services is committed to prevention of illness, injury and disease through education, through their "Helping You To Stay Healthy" campaign. During the Fall and Spring semesters, Student Health Services coordinates activities to recognize relevent health topics and national health campaigns. .

Numerous educational information sheets and pamphlets are available on a wide variety of health topics. Information regarding low cost
medical and dental insurance information is available as well.
