Assessment testing is used by the college to place students in classes in which they are most likely to succeed. Students planning to enroll in English and Math classes should take the appropriate assessment exam.

Appointments are available in the Admissions Office for students that are interested in taking an ESOL assessment exam. Call the Admissions Office at (619) 388-7844 to schedule an appointment.

Steps for Assessment:
• File an application with the San Diego Community College District.
  Application can be submitted in Admissions, C-303, or on the internet at http://studentweb.sdccd.edu. Admissions office 619.388.7844.
• Assessment dates and times may be found on Miramar College's Student Calendar of events at http://miracal.sdccd.edu/calendar/eventview.cfm or in the Assessment Office B-203. Assessment Office 619.388.7379.
• Bring you picture ID and your Student ID Number to the Independent Learning Center, Room I-130, to take your assessment tests (the tests are not timed but, you should allow at least 1 hour for either English or Math, and 2 hours for both tests.) No calculators or dictionaries are allowed.
• An online virtual orientation of Miramar College and completion of a short quiz is required prior to taking your assessment test(s) at http://www.sdmiramar.edu/root/stu_svcs/orientation/index.html. A copy of the quiz must be submitted or taken in the Independent Learning Center, Room I-130.
• Upon completion of your test(s) you will be given a copy of your placement scores. (You may only take the test once every three years.)
• Your scores will be posted within 2 business days and you will be able to register online through Reg-E
• Your first semester course plans can be made with a counselor in C-302 on a walk-in basis (Remember to bring you assessment results with you!) You may contact the Counseling office for testing alternatives at 619.388.7840.
