IMPORTANT UPDATE REGARDING COUNSELING SERVICES: Due to the current situation with COVID-19, the campus is closed to students until further notice. During this unprecedented time we ask for your patience as we transition to remote services. All students accessing online/remote counseling services must carefully read and agree to the INFORMED CONSENT Terms & Conditions before sending an email.

 
Appointments are not available through email. Please use one of our other options for scheduling.
 

Examples of information we need for commonly asked questions:

Classes for next semester:

  • Please email the counseling email with your student id#
  • Attach unofficial transcripts (if your transcripts have not been evaluated)
  • State your major and goal (ex. Associates, Transfer-where to)
  • Ask for help deciding on classes for the upcoming semester (ex. Fall 2020)

 

New students with classes from another college:

  • Email the counseling email with your student id#
  • Attach unofficial transcripts from the other college(s)
  • State your major and goal (ex. Associates, Transfer-where to)
  • Ask for help deciding on classes for the upcoming semester (ex. Fall 2020)
  • Official transcripts from previous schools must be received & evaluated for 1-hour appointments 
  • Official transcript evaluation is currently taking 3 months on average.

 

Clearing Prerequisites Quickly:

 

Discussing Prerequisites with a counselor:

  • Email the counseling email with your student id#
  • Attach your unofficial Prerequisite "Proof" (ex. transcript(s), AP scores)
  • State the class(es) you're requesting to take & the reason you believe you've met the prerequisite
  • State the semester you plan to enroll in the classes
  • Attach the Proof of Prerequisite Form with all of the information filled out
  • Advisories are 'suggested' but will not limit your ability to register for a course
  • Prerequisites are checked & enforced
  • You do not need to turn in anything for Advisories just Prerequisites

 

ALWAYS Include: Full Name, Student ID#, Specific Reason for contact (unofficial transcripts as needed).

Send an email with ALL required information to miracoun@sdccd.edu allow 3-4 business days for a reply. The more information you provide in your initial email, the more efficient the process will be.

 

The counselors will be available to answer emails during our regular office hours: Monday/Tuesday: 8am-7pm, Wednesday/Thursday: 8am-6pm, and Friday: 8am-3pm.

 

Forms are now being turned in online here. Videos on the Forms website fully explain the process; however, you may need to discuss specific forms with a counselor before submission. You may also email counseling as necessary for instruction/help for filling out the forms.
