Transfer to California Maritime Academy

Minimum Transfer Admission Requirements

Cal Maritime accepts both lower division (less than 60 CSU-transferable units) and upper division (more than 60 CSU-transferable units) transfer students. Due to the specialized nature of coursework at Cal Maritime, several majors require a four-year commitment of study regardless of previous academic coursework completed. Therefore, students are encouraged to transfer to Cal Maritime as early as possible.

Visit www.csum.edu/futurestudents/TransferPrepare.asp for more information on transfer admission requirements.

Recommended Transfer Coursework

o   General Education: Complete General Education (GE) requirements in written communication, oral communication, critical thinking, and mathematics with a "C" or higher in each.

o   College Trigonometry: Transfer students are highly recommended to complete college trigonometry (MATH 104) prior to transfer.

o   Preparation for Major: Students are encouraged to transfer to Cal Maritime as soon as possible. However, students who wish to complete preparation for major courses prior to transfer should select courses similar to those required at the lower division level (numbered 100-299) for their intended Cal Maritime major. See the Cal Maritime catalog or visit www.csum.edu/Academics/Majors/index.asp for details.

How to Apply & Transfer
