About our Health Services
Student Health Services at San Diego Miramar College serves students who are registered and currently attending at least one class on campus and have paid the student health fee. Open since Fall of 1998, the Health Services Office is located in Student Affairs Building S-100 in room S-103 across from the Bookstore (D-300) and near the Admissions Office (C-300). The Health Services Office is open during each semester (Fall, Spring and Summer) Hours vary so call the office for current operating hours.

Student Health Services offers comprehensive primary care health services. These services include:

FREE Services

  • Examinations by Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner or Medical Doctor (College Physician) for acute, chronic or episodic complaints.
  • Over the counter medications (single dose only)
  • Blood pressure monitoring
  • Vision Screening
  • Condoms (donations accepted)
  • Oral HIV testing in conjunction with San Diego County Health Dept.
  • Health Education on a variety of topics for prevention of illness/disease.
  • Information about Student Accident Insurance Program
  • Referral to Community Health Agencies, as necessary
  • Variety of monthly Health presentations
  • Crutches-on a loan basis
  • Referral to Harmonium Inc for personal counseling (at low cost per Harmonium agreement)

Fee Services

  • Physical examinations (including DMV physicals) for men and women (including PAP).
  • Immunizations
  • Tuberculosis testing
  • Prescription medications (limited amount dispensed at clinic as ordered by Nurse Practitioner/College physician)
  • Laboratory testing (as ordered by Nurse Practitioner/College physician)
  • Pregnancy testing
  • Special procedures (to include incision and drainage of abscess, suturing minor wounds, tissue biopsy, intravenous therapy)
  • Contraception medications (to include a variety of birth control pills, diaphragm fitting and depo-provera injection)
  • EKG testing
  • Oxygen therapy including nebulizer treatments
  • Ear irrigation / cleaning
  • Allergy shot administration
  • Bandaging and splinting materials

Educational Activities

Educational Activities
The staff of Student Health Services is committed to prevention of illness, injury and disease through education, through their "Helping You To Stay Healthy" campaign. During the Fall and Spring semesters, Student Health Services coordinates activities to recognize certain health topics Month, Great American Smoke out, Mental Health (Depression) Screening, Alcohol Awareness, and Healthy Heart Month.

Also, the nursing staff of the health services office is available to all instructors to conduct health topic presentations in the classroom.

Numerous educational information sheets and pamphlets are available on a wide variety of health topics. Information regarding low cost medical and dental insurance information is available as well.

Mental Health Screening Forms

San Diego Miramar College Student Health Services provides you with the online screening for depression, anxiety, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, alcohol and eating disorders. This free screening is made available to all San Diego Miramar College students and is taken anonymously. The screening is provided so that you may find out-in a few minutes-whether or not professional consultation would be helpful to you.
