Important Dates & Deadlines For Fall
Students must be enrolled in a program of study leading to an Associate Degree, Certificate of Achievement or transfer to a four-year college or university. Students must be enrolled in at least one Miramar College class in order to receive financial aid. Student should apply for financial aid from the campus which offers the major. Failure to do so could result in denial of financial aid. Students must be U.S. citizens or eligible non-citizens.
Male students between the ages of 18 and 25 years must register with Selective Service or provide proof that registration with Selective Service is not required. Selective Service registration must be confirmed by the Selective Service agency. You may register by mail at any U.S. Post Office or on-line at http://www.sss.gov. To contact the Selective Service agency, call (847) 688-6888. Students must have an high school diploma, an equivalent, a General Education Diploma (GED) or have passed the Ability to Benefit Test. You can also gain eligibility for aid after you ahve successfully completed six units that are applicable toward a degree or certificate. Students must not be in default on any Federal student loan funds or owe a refund on any Federal grant funds. Students must meet and maintain satisfactory academic progress.
Students must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office through the Federal methodology need analysis system. Student Aid Report vs. Institutional Student Information Record.
The Student Aid Report (SAR) is the set of papers the student receives from the Central Processing Center. It is the student's copy of the information that he or she reported on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Review all comments as well as all information reported on the application, paying particular attention to bold-faced items.
The Institutional Student Information Record (ISIR) is downloaded to the campus financial aid system sometime in March of each year and every weekend thereafter. The ISIR contains the information the student reported on the FAFSA, and which was used in the need analysis calculation. Changes to the ISIR can be made electronically. Students wanting to make corrections through the electronic process must bring Part 2 of the SAR to the Financial Aid Office with the corrections and signature(s) on the certification page.
