STEP 1 - Assessment
The English, English as a Second Language (ESL) and
Mathematics assessment exams help place you in classes where you
are most likely to succeed. Assessment is recommended for all students
planning to enroll in English, ESL or mathematics. Make an appointment
for an assessment exam when you file your college application.
STEP 2 - Orientation
Orientation sessions present important
information about college programs, requirements and services.
Orientation helps you understand the college Catalog and Schedule
of Classes, necessary tools to plan for your first semester in
college.
Orientation information is included as part of both the Assessment and Counseling components of matriculation.
STEP 3 - Counseling
Counselors provide pre-registration
counseling for all new and returning students. Meeting with a
counselor before registration in classes allows you to review
your educational goals, learn about majors and requirements,
and select the courses you plan to take during your first semester
at Miramar College
Schedule an appointment for a STEP (Success Through Educational Planning) Session at the Assessment or Counseling Offices.
STEP 4 - Follow-Up
After enrolling for the first semester,
you will benefit from additional matriculation services to help
ensure your success--College Success Seminars, counseling appointments
to develop formal Student Educational Plans (SEP), early alert
for students having trouble in classes, and career and transfer
planning through the Career/Transfer Center.
Schedule an appointment with a counselor during you first semester in college. Plus, take advantage of the many opportunities available to help you succeed at Miramar College.
