Tutoring in not only for the "perpetually perplexed." High achieving
students in Ivy League colleges and universities are using tutoring to
maintain their GPA's, save time and reduce stress.
Retention
and Student Success SDCCD Research has run an analysis of our
services every four years or so since 1994. The results have been
consistent throughout. Students who use the services of The PLACe are much
less likely to drop out and they also receive higher grades in their
courses. The study compared pre-transfer level math and English students.
The cohort was split into those who visited The PLACe (even once) and
those who didn't have any visits.
- Retention was 20% higher for students with PLACe visits. Retention
was determined by course completion.
- Success in the course was 20% higher. Success was measured by
grades. A, B, or C was identified as successful.
How Can I Incorporate The PLACe into My Course?
There
are as many methods to add our services as there are professors but here
are some suggestions and activities that have been very successful. Please
