This is a small collection intended to support the Legal Assistant
program. It has basic books for students in that program. If
you need to do in-depth legal research, please go to the San
Diego County Public Law Library, as their
collection will be more extensive and up-to-date.
Most of this collection does not circulate.
The facility is to be used for quiet study only.
The following titles are
available:
Laws, Statutes, and Regulations:
- United States Code Service, Lawyers’ Edition (Updated
Only Until 2002)
- Contains federal statutes and text of the
code and interpretations of it.
- Deering’s California Codes Annotated
- Contains state statutes with annotations.
Court Cases:
- United States Supreme Court Reports, Lawyers’ Edition,
2nd Series (V.1-109)
- This set does not
have an index to it, so you must have a specific court case citation already
in order to make use of it.

- California Reports, 2d Series and 3d series
- Official California Reports, 4th Series (V.1-31)
- These sets contain the official reports for citation of California Supreme
Court cases.

- California Appellate Reports, 2d Series and 3d
Series
- Official California Appellate Reports, 4th Series
(V.1-111)
- These sets
contain the official reports for citation of California Courts of Appeal
cases.

- West’s California Reporter, 1st Series
and 2d Series (v.1-12)

This set contains unofficial reports for California Courts
of Appeal cases.

- West's California Digest 2d Series
- This set covers state and federal cases decided since 1950.
Shepard’s Citations:
- Shepard’s California Citations
- This set is used to find updated cases. The volumes we have
are old and should be used for demonstration purposes only. More recent
information is available online via Lexis.
Law Dictionaries and Encyclopedias:
- American Jurisprudence 2d
- This set is a law encyclopedia which gives an overview of
general topics and cases cited.
- Cal Jur, 3rd ed.
- This set is legal
encyclopedia regarding California law.
- Black’s Law Dictionary, 6th ed.
- This book gives brief definitions of legal topics.
Law Directories:
- Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory
- This set is
outdated. Information can be found online.
Legal Monographs:
- Check the library's online catalog for law books which
current students may checkout from the library's circulating book collection.
