The AV Department primarily serves the instructional media needs of the faculty and staff at Miramar College.

The AV Services Department is located in C-403, near the technical services area of the Library. To ensure that AV staff is available when you stop by, please contact the AV Services Department prior to your visit, or ask for assistance at the Circulation Desk.

Business Hours: Instructional Lab Technicians (ILTs) are available from 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday. For Saturday service, please make arrangements in advance (during the week) with an ILT.

  • Walk into room C403 and talk to AV staff during business hours. Ring bell to enter if using the side door from the street.
  • Leave a message with the Library staff.
  • If your need is urgent, Library staff can page AV staff.

Note: AV Department projection units may not be compatible with non-AV Department laptops. If you are planning an event using one of our projection units with your personal or department laptop, please make an appointment with an AV Technician at least three days before the event to ensure all devices are compatible.

CHECK-OUT PROCEDURES:

  •          Reservations must be received at least three days prior to classroom use. Equipment is issued on a first-come, first-served basis, so please turn in your request early.

  •          Equipment is available for one-time use check out by filling out an AV Equipment Single-Use Checkout Form. To schedule regular on-going check out throughout a semester, fill out an AV Equipment Continuous Daily-Use Checkout Form. Please note all equipment must be returned in the same day at the specific return time scheduled to be available for others. Overnight checkouts are not allowed. 

  •          All requests require verification and an original signature, so all forms must be brought in to the AV Department in C403.

  •          Students may NOT check out equipment. However, a student with a photo ID card may pick up equipment that has been reserved by the instructor.

  •          Departments are liable for damages and repairs incurred on equipment during checkout.

CHECK-IN PROCEDURES:

  • Make sure all AV equipment parts are returned (i.e., remote controls, adapters, cords, etc.)
  • Please return all AV equipment to the AV Department in C403 using the side entrance, unless directed otherwise.

Videos:

All AV materials owned by Miramar College Library/LRC are cataloged along with books in the Library's online catalog.

Many more titles are made available through our membership in the County's cooperative, also known as the San Diego County Office of Education Catalog.

Regarding County Cooperative materials please note:

  • Contact the County Consortium at (619) 718-4986 for access code.
  • Search and submit requests for materials through the San Diego County Office of Education Catalog.
  • Requests from the County Cooperative must be submitted at least two weeks prior to scheduled classroom use.
  • Media are delivered and picked up from the A/V Department approximately twice a week as needed.
  • Loans are for one week only. Please return materials as soon as possible after use.
  • If you’re having difficulties and would like assistance, print out a Media Request Form and bring it to the AV Department C403.

Services:

Smart Classroom Training:

For classrooms with multimedia systems, please contact the AV Department to receive training and a code to access the equipment. Training can be arranged day or evening by calling (619) 388-7317 to schedule an appointment.

AV Equipment Repair:

Please notify the AV Department immediately when equipment is not working properly or a warning message appears. (619) 388-7317 or email avmira@sdccd.edu.

Purchase of AV Equipment:

Please consult with the AV Department in planning the purchase of departmental audiovisual equipment. This will ensure the equipment meets District standards.

Production Services:

The AV Department can also help you with your production needs, such as:

  • PA Setup
  • Audio/Visual Duplication (instructor must obtain written approval from publisher for duplication of commercially-produced materials)
  • Transferring media into other formats
  • Video & Tele- Conferencing
  • Digital Photos
  • Videotaping
  • Audio/Video Editing
  • Satellite Downlinks

For production assistance, please submit a Studio Production Event Form to the AV Department at least one week prior to the requested production date for consideration/approval.  

Special Events:

  • To receive AV Department assistance with Special Events, requests must be made at least one week before the event date.
  • Print out a Special Event Request Form and bring it to the AV Department.
  • Meet with AV Staff to discuss the special event in detail.

All forms require verification and signature. You may print out the forms below and bring them to the AV Department in room C-403. These forms are also available at the front desk of the AV Department.
