Learning Communities

Your link to success!

A learning community is two or more classes linked together by a common theme or

purpose.  Speech can be linked with English, Math with Personal Growth, or

Reading with Writing. In a learning community, the same students enroll in the linked

classes together. The instructors work together as a team to create common topics

and assignments and to support student success.

Students who enroll in Learning Communities:

         Have higher GPAs

         Are more satisfied with their college experience

         Are more likely to form study groups and work with their classmates

         Are more likely to talk to their professors outside of class

         Feel more comfortable expressing their opinions in class

         Learn to approach topics from multiple perspectives
