This work experience is invaluable in creating a firm foundation for the student to achieve his/her career goals. Within the dealership, the student learns the importance of becoming a member of the dealership team while developing pride in his/her workmanship. The student experiences the satisfaction that comes from meeting the needs of the customers and providing the highest degree of customer satisfaction. The income received from the intemship helps defray the cost of the
education, but is not designed to fully support the student while completing
the Auto Tech A.S. degree.
The Internship experience will provide the feedback necessary for maximum successful student performance both in the classroom and while interning at the sponsoring Dealership. 2. Complete Application for internship program 3. Attend orientation session at Miramar College 4. Successfully compete for Dealership sponsor at Internship interview or attend Miramar College as an unsponsored student until selected by a dealership. 5. Selected students/interns: Identify Internship and class schedules. (See Advisor!) 6. Develop with Counselor a class schedule to complete Auto Tech A.S. Degree in four-six semesters.

The student T-TEN intern works daily each semester at the dealership and is in class in the evenings. The student may need additional means of income while attending classes, such as parent support or student loans/grants/scholarships.
10. Selected students/interns: Students must schedule general
education classes in evening and summer and schedule Auto Tech classes
during the day.
The Student will be paired with a mentoring technician at the dealership to guide the student in achieving objectives and measuring progress. Miramar College will provide guidance and assistance in resume wnting, interview preparation and other professional and employment skills throughout the student's training. 1. To agree to abide by the terms of the dealer/student contract or agreement, including those regarding the payment of college tuition and the purchase of books, supplies, tools and equipment necessary for the program. If student and dealer have signed a modified version of either of these documents, the terms of the modified document shall prevail. 2. To complete all required course work in the Auto Technology / Associated Degree Program with a grade of "C" or better (at least a 2.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale) 3. To graduate with an Associate's Degree in Automotive Service Technology. Each student is obligated to do his best and apply himself to his work both at school and at the dealership, completing all courses the college deems necessary to be awarded an Associate's Degree. 4. To provide personal transportation throughout the program to Miramar College and to the Dealership site. 5. To agree to provide the sponsoring dealer with all personal transcripts educational and experiential—before and during the term of the contract or agreement. Upon request, the student should bring any records of educational or experiential performance to dealer/student inteviews along with the results of any and all college entrance exams. 6. To agree to adhere to the employment policies of the sponsoring dealership, including those regarding dress code, punctuality, etc. NOTE: Although not a requirement of the program, students are strongly encouraged to become certified by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) in all eight automotive areas. This certification will prove student competency as well as benefitting the student by making him more highly valued as an employee. The Internship Coordinator and instructors will encourage the
student to take the various tests for certifcation as the student completes
each area of study during the program.
