| Miramar College's
Automotive Technology training program offers you paid internships with
Chrysler and Toyota dealerships in the area to give you valuable on the
job training and put you ahead of the competition.
The best way to get a highly skilled technician is through manufacturer-specific training on up-to-date equipment and cars. The college works with the industry to train and counsel students and then matches interns to specific dealer needs, and uses state-of-theart diagnostic and computerised automotive technology. These programs are
approximately five semesters or two and one-half years long. During that
time, you will be working full time as an apprentice with the dealership
that sponsors you. Additional general education courses are required and
need to be taken in the evening or during the Summer.
Don't' despair! You
may not yet have an apprenticeship contract with the auto manufacturer
of your choice, but give it some time. Chrysler and Toyota dealers need
a chance to see you perform in class before selecting you for an apprenticeship
program. Sign up for the classes on the product line of your choice, and
you'll be placed on the waiting list for a sponsoring dealership. When
there are openings in their apprenticeship programs, dealerships will give
priority to already enrolled students who are in good academic standing.

Program (CAP) semesters are divided into halves, each nine weeks in length.
For nine weeks, you'll be studying automotive technology with Miramar College,
and the next nine weeks, you'll apply what you've learned in school by
working at the dealership, and so on.
![]() To receive an A.S. degree in either program, additional general education courses are required and will need to be taken in the evening, for CAP and in the Summer, for T-TEN. |
