The PLACe Policies for Tutoring Services

  • All students must be currently enrolled in the San Diego Community College District to utilize The PLACe’s services.  You will need to show proof of student status.
  • Scheduling an appointment for tutoring is highly recommended.  Walk-in tutoring (tutoring without an appointment) may be available provided that a tutor does not have a scheduled appointment.
  • All students can make appointments for tutoring in courses they are taking at Miramar College.
  • All students taking a class at a different campus may not schedule appointments; however, they may come into the center.  All students are encouraged to come and study in The PLACe.
  • Tutoring appointments can be made in person at the front desk or by calling our center during our hours of operation: Monday-Thursday 8:30 am-6:30 pm.
  • Appointments are scheduled on a first come, first served basis. The PLACe voicemail system or email may not be used to make appointments.
    • Appointments are scheduled on the hour or half hour; 30-minute sessions are 25 minutes long, and 60-minute sessions are 50 minutes long.
    • Tutoring appointments may only be scheduled up to one week in advance.
    • Each student may schedule two appointments per subject each week; they cannot be scheduled back-to-back.
    • For each subject, students may receive one appointment per day lasting up to one hour, if available.
  • No-Shows for Appointments:
    • If you are more than 15 minutes late for a scheduled appointment and do not call us, it is considered a “No-Show,” and your appointment may be given to another student.
    • After two “No-Shows,” you must make an appointment to talk to The PLACe Coordinator and sign an agreement that you understand you cannot miss any more tutoring appointments.
  • After three “No-Shows,” you may not be able to receive tutoring services for the rest of the semester.
