Official transcripts from all colleges attended must be on file before submitting the petition.
Students who have petitioned for graduation should notify the Evaluations Office immediately of any name or address change.
Students who have completed the requirements for the CSU general education pattern or the Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) must petition for General Education Certification in the Evaluations Office.
A diploma cover will be given to each graduate who participates in the commencement ceremony. However, the actual certificate/diploma will not be mailed to the graduate until a final evaluation has been completed to verify that all requirements for graduation have been satisfied. In addition, all outstanding financial holds with the San Diego Community College District must be cleared.
Parking is free and guests are encouraged to park in Lot #1 and #2, off of Black Mountain Rd. Graduates and guests are strongly recommended to carpool and plan for sufficient travel time and parking congestion.
Graduation regalia will be the traditional black cap and gown with a teal tassel.
Miramar College is always interested in finding a graduating student to serve as the Student Commencement Speaker. If you have a unique experience or story to share, we hope that you will be consider applying to serve as the Student Commencement Speaker.
It is recommended that families and guests arrive at Compass Point at least 60 minutes prior to the ceremony start time. Graduates are required to register at the west entrance to the LLRC Auditorium a minimum of one hour in advance of the ceremonies.
If you or your guest will need special accommodations, please contact the Student Affairs Office no later than Friday, May 1, 2015 12:00 noon. Special Seating and assistance will be available with prior notice.
Consider planning for commencement early by attending the Miramar College Grad Fair, hosted by the Miramar Campus Bookstore, and celebrated in conjunction with the Associated Students Spring Fest. The event, located at Compass Point, in the center of the campus just north of the K Building, is a chance to prepare in advance for your big day.
You must notify the Evaluations Office by returning the Graduation Registration. This form is mandatory to participate in the commencement ceremony and can be found in the first section of the Commencement website, entitled “See Timeline and other important information for Spring 2014 Graduates.
As a student of San Diego Miramar College you have had very important connections and experiences along the way. Your educational experiences, both inside and outside of the classroom, have undoubtedly shaped you and prepared you for your future. You have learned, overcome challenges, developed and achieved success; and we are proud of you. You have become a part of the Miramar College family and we hope that you will want to remain connected to the college.
