AV Department

Intersession Hours, 2024:  Closed January 1 - January 15

AV Department Mission Statement

The mission of San Diego Miramar College's Learning Resources Audiovisual Department is to provide equity, inclusion, anti-racism, success, and quality instructional audiovisual resources and support services to our faculty, staff, students, and campus community. This includes AV troubleshooting, setups, checkouts, training, preventative maintenance, procurement, inventory, technology design, planning, production, and implementation to support campus and District needs.

We are located on the first floor of the L Building (L-111), on the north side of the L Building gate entrance. To ensure that AV staff is available when you stop by, please contact the Audiovisual Services Department at (619) 388-7317 prior to your visit.

AV Special Events Setup

  • AV Setup requests should be submitted at LEAST 2-3 weeks in advance.
  • Important information:
    1. AV services are not guaranteed until you receive a written email confirmation from the AV Department.
    2. Please be advised that your department will be held liable for any damages to AV equipment.

Faculty/Staff AV Checkout Requests

  • AV equipment checkout requests should be submitted at LEAST 3-5 days prior to the reservation date.

AV Equipment Troubleshooting and Repair

The AV Department maintains and repairs Miramar College audiovisual equipment. Please notify the AV Department immediately if equipment is not working properly. Phone (619) 388-7317, email avmira@sdccd.edu, or submit an online work order.

Audiovisual Technology Consultation - Integration & Quote Requests

Please consult with the AV Department in the planning and purchasing of departmental audiovisual equipment. This will ensure that equipment meet District standards. AV can assist in project planning, obtaining quotes, and preparing requisitions.

AV Lab

Viewing Station & Media DVD/VHS Collection

The AV Department Circulation area features student viewing stations for course-related media viewing. The AV Department also houses Miramar College Library's collection of DVD and VHS tapes. Links to the Miramar Library Catalog for DVD and VHS Collections are provided below.

DECT Grant - Synchronous & Asynchronous Video Captioning Services

The Distance Education Captioning and Transcription grant (DECT) provides CCCs with funding for live and synchronous captioning and transcription as a means of enhancing the access of all students to distance education courses. Further, the DECT promotes and supports awareness of available funding as a means to support faculty efforts to develop high-quality, media-rich distance learning courses.

For assistance with captioning services, please fill out the online Preliminary Questionnaire form or contact the Audiovisual Department directly.

  • Call (619) 388-7317 to speak to AV staff or leave a voicemail.
  • Students may walk-in to L-111 during normal student business hours.
  • Faculty and staff may walk-in or ring the buzzer at L-111 during normal faculty/staff business hours.

Please do not use staff e-mail addresses for AV requests.
